One of the things we decided to do was drive to the beach so in order to check out the ocean. It's gotten pretty cold here recently and the wind coming off the Atlantic was chilling yesterday. The water was pretty rough, too, and we saw a good number of large waves crashing against the granite breakers just off-shore. There was one large rock about twenty feet out into the water that we were able to walk to because of the tide being low. We took the opportunity to climb the rock and take some pretty awesome pictures of the sea and the waves. After about twenty minutes on the rock, though, we started back to shore and realized that the tide had begun to come back in. Instead of having pebbles and stones to step across on our path back to shore, we had about 8-12" of 53-degree salt water to walk through. It made the short walk back to shore much more difficult than it should have been. Pants were soaked, feet were cut on rocks, and an ankle (mine) was mildly sprained. It makes for a good story, though, so I guess it was all worth it.
We went out to eat after our little ocean adventure, got some dessert, and came back to Durham. We talked about politics and God for the better part of two hours before watching the last couple of innings of Game One in the World Series and going to bed.
Sarah and I have really missed the opportunity to spend quality time with other Christian couples who understand and value the place we're in right now in our lives. Last night was a great chance for us to reconnect with God and with a couple the we truly love and appreciate.
Thanks, Thaddeus and Jenae.
Here's a picture for the rest of you... The sun came out long enough for us to take this one decent picture while out on the rock yesterday.

Stay Gold, everyone.
